Is Your Website Working For You Or Against You?

by | Jul 15, 2016

A nice flashy website is nice to look at.

No doubt about it.

High definition photos draw people in, dynamic layouts are like a buffet for the eyes and a fast loading site makes wait times bearable.

This is nice and all, but when it comes down to it, you really want that investment to return something for your money, right?

If it isn’t then you’ve sunk your money for nothing, when you think about it.

So, HOW do you get your website to make a return?

It starts with putting it to work. Your website is like an employee and salesman working around the clock for you.

If you aren’t putting it to use, then you are losing out. Here are some ways you can put your website to work so you can save your business some time AND money, and in some cases make you some money as well.

The Argument For A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Page

Think about the calls you field on a daily basis. People are calling about things like the products or services you have, where you are located and your hours of operation.

How much time is spent a day on such things?

Imagine if you paid someone to work in your shop to answer phones, sell items and do some basic things. Now picture that you pay them $10 per hour. On any given day they spend 2 hours answering general questions like we mentioned above.

In a given week that’s 2 hours x 5 days a week x $10.

Did you come up with $100?

You are losing that money where it could easily be made up on your website. A simple FAQs page could cut down on these calls, that lost time and more importantly lost wages.

Selling After Hours

If there are service packages or products that you can easily transition to an online marketplace, then why haven’t you yet?

People do online searches at all times of the day and night.

If you were searching for a spa package to give to a friend as a birthday present and were doing so at midnight, which site would you choose?

Site A lists all of the packages that they have and their hours of operation.

Site B lists all of the packages that they have, hours of operation and a handy dandy checkout cart that comes with a nice Gift Certificate that you can print up to give as a gift.

If you stumbled upon these sites and were to see your friend in the morning, which one would you choose?

If you are able to sell items online, then you really ought to be.

Getting your website set up like this will ensure that you are able to sell your products and services, EVEN when you are closed.

Building Trust

It has been shown that people buy from those they know, like and trust.

A website is a perfect vehicle to showcase your items, your credentials, the benefits of working with you as well as building tremendous trust through testimonials and social proof.

This will help cut down on the time spent on the phone or in person when you are trying to sell to clients and customers.

Your website can do it for you, so all that’s left is for them to push that buy button or come in and make that purchase.
